Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, a British American artist and a sitarist is best known for her music. She was the first woman in her age group to be a member of an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is among India's rising stars in the sitar. She is both the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. Born in London in 1982, and spent her early years shuttling to London and New Delhi. She gave her debut performance in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. She graduated in 1999 from her high school studies in Encinitas CA. Anouskha is still pursuing a successful music and acting career, even though she's only a teenager. Her father has been with her in many performances for many years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning live at Carnegie Hall was released two years later than her first solo album. She's performed in all important venues across the world. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to performing in music. Bapi the love of My Live, a biography of a picture that was dedicated to her father Ravi Shankar was published in 2002. In 2003, she appeared as an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka's career is still developing and she is expected to accomplish many amazing things in the near future. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her youth in between London in the UK and Delhi. She then moved to California and went to the high school. She started learning to play the guitar at the age nine and played the sitar to commemorate the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi the following year. Her father traveled around the globe with her, and she also gained a variety of opportunities. As she was at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. The youngest female to win the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament in recognition of her musicianship and artistry within performing in the Asian Arts.
