Anna Gunn

Anna Gunn is an American actress. She is best known for her character Skyler White in The AMC show Breaking Bad for which she received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting actress in an Drama Series in 2013 and 2014. The actress has also appeared as Jean Ward in The Practice and Martha Bullock in Deadwood. Anna Gunn grew up in Sante Fe New Mexico and was awed by acting during her time at the Preparatory School. In the late 70's, she and her family moved to Ohio. She did theatre studies at Northwestern University, and spent one semester at British American Drama Academy. Anna performed in Chicago's theater for many years prior to attempting TV and movie role. Anna was chosen to play Arden in the TV show Down the Shore in the 29-episode series Down the Shore. She continued to appear as guest stars on a number of television shows and films including Seinfeld as well as NYPD Blue until the late 90's when she appeared in a recurring role as Jean Ward in The Practice. Martha Bullock was her role in Deadwood during two complete seasons. Skyler was the character she played in her Breaking Bad role from 2008. She also starred in the Deadwood movie and Sully. Gunn also took to the stage in a David Schwimmer-directed production of Sex With Strangers. Gunn was in the role of Numbered Days, a four part audio podcast that will air in 2022. The relationship that exists between Walter White and his wife Skyler is often the backbone of the story in Breaking Bad with the strained connection between them and its eventual demise arguably echoing the same storyline of Walter White's last years of life.
